Markus loved Fridays, no doubt about it. Why did Markus love them so much? Well, it was because he had absolutely no classes to teach on Fridays and occasionally no band practice which freed him up to do whatever he wanted. His normal routine consisted of watching cartoons in his undies with a bowl of some sort of sugary, high processed cereal then taking his time to read a few comic books and check on his friends back home, then whatever struck him to do as an idea. And usually at some point in the day he would take a break and shoot up. Then it was a long nap and some alone time before Danny came home from school and going to pick up Bliss. Today after his usual undie-cartoon marathon and comics he decided to skate. He hadn't been on his board in a few weeks and he had that familiar itch in his bones to get on and ride.
Markus lounged around for another hour until he was sure he wasn't gonna get called for another band practice. Then it was on his feet and trying to find something to wear. Markus wasn't the type of guy to spend an hour trying to meticulously put together an outfit. He didn't believe in any of that stupid 'oh my shoes have to match my underwear' nonsense, but rather believed in dressing for comfort. He grabbed a pair of baggy jeans from the bottom of his closet and yanked a blue 'Let The Good Tides Roll' shirt from a hanger. After changing into his clothes he grabbed his beat up checkerboard Vans and slipped them on before heading for his dresser. He put in a pair of stud earrings, slid on his shark's tooth necklace and his music note necklace loped on a hemp rope, as well as his hemp bracelet. Markus quickly and messily applied some black eyeliner, one of his few metro luxuries. After grabbing his element board and his iphone he made his way into the bright sunshine. Today was the perfect day to skate. Despite the norm being cold, jacket-worthy days today was in the pretty 60's with not a cloud in sight. He drove his 67' Mustang to the nearby shopping center where he knew he could find some primo places to skate, as well as purchase some of Bliss' birthday presents early.
Markus inahled a deep breath of fresh air before turning on some California ska music and hopping onto his board. He did a few runs up and down the sidewalk, getting his bearings on the sidewalk. He skated around the building until he came to one of the quads out front, filled with lots of staircases and other things for practice. He skated straight for a set of stairs and crouched down, leaning forward to gain speed. He pushed off with his legs and the board make a loud clink noise as the wheels grazed the railing. He rode the rail down and did a rather intricate trick on the dismount. After skating around for a while Markus got really hot in his shirt. Not wanting to ruin it with sweat he quickly slipped it off and tossed it next to the building. With his shirt off one could see the Native American bird on his back and the various other tattoos on his upper body. A loud, fast moving Cali-punk song came on and he began amping up his tricks. After a few misfires on one trick he'd been honing he attempted it again.
As his board made contact with the railing it began to wobble, sending him flying off it at an angle. He felt his body crash into the concrete at the bottom of the stairs, surprisingly still keeping his fedora on. He closed his eyes for a moment to assess the damage, feeling a sharp pain on his side. He opened his eyes and sat up against the tug on his right ribs. He touched the skin and came back seeing blood. After checking it out he was reliefed to see he'd only suffered a minor skin abrasion, nothing serious. He heard footsteps and his eyes glanced up to see someone coming towards him. Great, now he was going to get in trouble for skating on private property.
