It was only January, but Roger was ready for the summer. Winter break had just ended, and Roger had to return to school. For the high school kids, final exams were beginning to creep up on them, and the students would be taking these exams at the end of the month. Many of Roger's classes were close to dropping down to C's. He had worked hard this semester at his grades, but sometimes even that wasn't good enough for his teacher. His mom was worried about him, and decided that he needed to start studying for his finals early. She had been quizzing him on material all week, and made him stay at home for the weekend to focus on his studies.
After a lot of begging and pestering, she finally let him out of the house for a few hours. She dropped him off at Casey's corner, and said that she would be back at two p.m. to pick him up so he could return home and resume studying. Pizza and hot dogs sounded like a great study break, and Roger prayed that he would run into someone he could talk to and hang out with for the small amount of time he was allowed to be out in public. Maybe if he was lucky, he could even find a study partner to come back home with him.
After ordering a small pizza, some breadsticks, and a soda, Roger found an open table in the restaurant and took a seat. The place was pretty empty so far, and Roger pulled out his phone to begin looking through his contacts list of people to invite to lunch with him. As he was browsing through his contact list, sending quick texts to people asking if they wanted to meet at Casey's for lunch, he heard the door open and a few voices. Roger ignored it for the moment, but hoped that the people entering the restaurant were people that he knew, or at least could talk to while he waited for some of his friends to either text him back, or show up.
